Interview with Marie-HélènEMarie-Helene Cossé | Mid&PlusFounder & Editorial Director Mid&PlusHow was the Mid&Plus project born? A meeting or an event?I would say both. In my fifties, when I had already worked for many years in a business law firm in Paris, I had lunch with a childhood friend who complained of having neglected her career for having followed her husband to the provinces and told me to be "a good for nothing". I jump! My friend is very talented and in particular an excellent pen. For my part, I have always liked to write and blacken notebooks since adolescence. This is how the idea of Mid&Plus was born! It must be said that the timing was good because, for my part, I had come to the end of the desire to work in the very masculine world of lawyers. I wanted to turn to women and especially those of my generation approaching fifty and over, the Mid (mid for half of life). Besides, I didn't recognize myself at all in most online magazines or print media. It is from all these combined factors that the idea was born of launching a website written by women who take a creative and positive look at the feminine world every week. If you had to do things over again would you change anything? No, I won't change anything. Every step I took, every step I took had its purpose the moment I took it and got me where I needed to go. I have always been a woman who goes forward, who does not look back. I have no regrets, I'm moving forward. Finally, what did Mid&Plus teach you about life? and on the relationship to the body? The wonder of Mid&Plus are all these different women that I have met for the site since its creation in 2014, all those whose portraits we have painted, women who have dared, taken risks, stepped out of their comfort zone. , all having in common this particular light that they give off and that makes their beauty. Without forgetting the many therapists I interviewed, a parallel world that I was unaware of until then, and who opened the way to the well-being of the body and gave another vision of aging differently and better living. . Practice of yoga, walking, breathing, meditation, naturopathy, nutrition, natural cosmetics, massage, body care: my life has changed! I was no longer just a "spirit", I became a spirit inhabiting a body that I listened to and began to pamper. How do you see the change in the relationship to the body? The change from our mothers is impressive! We have pushed back the limits of aging by adopting “aging well”. Being well in your body to be well in your head, “being aligned” as they say, allows you to age well, for yourself and thus for others. Because to take care of others, you must first be well yourself, a fundamental approach that our mothers and grandmothers did not have! What does “being beautiful” mean to you after 50? What broader beauty advice would you give to these Mids?Being beautiful after 50 means being in tune with the life we lead, living what suits us once the wounds of childhood and adolescence have been resolved and of course taking care of our physical envelope. After all, this is where we live and where some of us will live for another 50 years or so, so better start right away if you haven't already! Some have this awareness early, from menopause which is a kind of trigger for most women. For others it is later. It is often the example of other women that inspires and infuses, hence the importance of being role models for each other. I am inspired by others to inspire myself!Do you think that the need or the search for sensoriality becomes more important after 50? Yes quite. I see several reasons for this. We have often forgotten ourselves in our careers, the education of our children, the care of our aging parents and for those who, like me, have spent our days locked in an office, we have lost contact with nature, which is essential. I felt this need very strongly at the age of sixty. Armed with my stick and my backpack, I set out to walk solo in one go from Puy en Velay to Santiago de Compostela. 1,600 kilometers reconnected to nature gave me back the smells, the colors, the sounds, the lights, the smiles of encounters, the joy of simple pleasures, the return to basics. I am impressed when I browse the photos of me taken on the Way to see the incredible light that emanates from me, yet without makeup or hair. I think that's what shines through: the sensoriality rediscovered thanks to the reconnection with nature. I also left everything on my return to go and live in the middle of nature in Saint Jean Pied de Port, a small Basque village at the foot of the mountains. Why did you choose the L'ODAÏTÈS brand and skincare products and why do you remain loyal to them?I did a interview/portrait of Nabila, the founder, in 2016 for my Mid&Plus website. She had just created her brand with her two sisters. I was very interested in her journey, a 360° life change, and in this family adventure of three sisters returning to the ointments and perfumes of their childhood. I liked the way she talked about Mid women's skin. “For a mature woman, what is important is not the wrinkles she wears, but the light and radiance she radiates thanks to the care she gives to her skin. ". I tested the products, that was six years ago, and I have never changed! My skin no longer pulls, it has regained radiance and elasticity and of course I am very sensitive to the fact that the products are almost 100% natural. Today, it is no longer a question of putting on your skin cosmetics whose origin we do not know.2. They reflect perfectly what I feel. I define women over fifty as independent women, who have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone, with life experience. Warriors!]"How, in your opinion, is it possible to demystify this famous period of fifty? "I think it comes first of all from education and life in general, I try to get the message across to my children, to tell them that aging is a completely natural process, you can't s to prevent aging. Aging is a real privilege that not everyone has, and that's the word I remember: privilege. The privilege of growing old. What would be your advice for accepting aging?“There is a whole change with menopause which is the end of something, the end of one life but also the beginning of another life.
